Weaver ~

2021

The album presents an atmospheric processing of field recordings from travels in Denmark, Iran and Indonesia, which have been altered into graphic notations and from here converted once again into new music.

Careful translations of the material, which create evocative soundscapes reminiscing a new kind of science fiction.

Weaver ~ is the second solo album from Jaleh Negari and takes its place as a natural development of her work with composition. Like on Arch Waves, Negaris work as a drummer clearly shines through in

the music, and large parts of the compositions are formed by variating rhythmic material, weaved in and out with new, harmonic expressions as a result.

Where the percussive elements on Arch Waves were apparent primarily as acoustic instruments, they have now grown into an electronic universe where singing bowls and gongs are substituted with synths and samplers, that breathe side by side with woodblocks, field recordings, piano and voice to name a few.

Weaver ~ was a part of the duo exhibition Fungal Network by Felia Gram-Hanssen og Jaleh Negari in contemporary institute of art O-Overgaden, Copenhagen in 2022.

Through the exhibition the mutual exchange between sound, performance and graphics are approached in the same manner as the communication that takes place in the underground fungal networks, which connects the trees with other organisms.

Jaleh Negaris works in the installation was a series of graphic scores, a multichannel piece in 7 bluetooth speakers and a quadro phonic sound layer made of the field recordings from layers and the proces of Weaver ~

A spacious experience, that reflects the making of the album.
